The Backpack Food Ministry is a ministry partnership between Bethany UMC and St. Thomas More Catholic Church. This ministry provides weekend food for children in need at Purple Sage Elementary School. Throughout the school year, the churches work together to provide 65 bags of food each week to the school that are then given to qualified students. These bags contain healthy and easy to prepare foods, to ensure low-income children have meals to eat over the weekend. The items must be microwaveable and there are limitations as to the size. We have tubs on campus with signs near the office and in the preschool lobby so people can drop items off. We also purchase supplies at warehouse clubs. The bags are packed on Sundays and delivered on Friday mornings.
