Omar Lopez and The Presence: Live in Concert
Admission - $10.00 (all ages)
For the past three years, Violinist Omar Lopez has been joined by a cast of instrumentalists and vocalists who hail from varied musical backgrounds in classical, jazz, progressive rock, experimental, pop, gospel, inspirational, Latin, and world music. These talented performers have not only brought his compositions to life - they have given it their own distinct flavors and have lent their own voices to an empowering and uplifting message of strength, hope, and survival that has been inherent in many of his songs such as "Dawn", "Reasons for Living", "Full Circle", "Resurrection", and of course, "Forever Red".
The combined sound, energy, and passion of these extraordinarily talented, yet humble musicians in live performances is a testimony to the presence of a higher power behind the music that Omar believes is beyond him and greater than anything of this world. Therefore, paying tribute to his Creator, Lord, and Savior, Omar has given a name to this impressive ensemble - The Presence - which consists of Ryan Redfern on electric bass, Peter Mazzetti on guitar, Christopher Cribb on keyboards, and Reagan Redfern on drums, along with vocalist Kelley Glover. Furthermore, Omar Lopez and The Presence will be joined by a few new musicians and vocalists in 2009.
On the evening of Saturday, December 6th, 2008 at 8:00 P.M. Omar Lopez and The Presence will perform their one and only winter holiday concert in the beautiful sanctuary of Bethany United Methodist Church, which Omar is also happy and blessed to call his place of worship on Sunday mornings. Omar and his seven-piece cast of instrumentalists and vocalists will perform favorites from "FOREVER RED" as well as new music that is being recorded for Omar's next album. The fan response to new songs such as "Synergy", "Mirrors and Memories", "Runaway", and "Behind These Walls" has been so amazing and so the band cannot wait to share even more of the musical excitement with the audience!
As an added bonus, Omar will be opening the concert with pianist and guitarist Nic Whitworth (musical director of "Messengers of Grace", the Bethany worship band) for a short set of holiday-themed songs to celebrate the spirit of "the most wonderful time of the year".
Invite your friends, family, and coworkers. This promises to be a wonderful evening!
