Our Beliefs and Values
We believe that the church is a community of disciples called together under the Lordship of Christ. It is a redeemed and redeeming fellowship where the Word of God is preached and the sacraments are celebrated according to Christ’s own command. Under the discipline of the Holy Spirit the church seeks to be a place where people are led to experience God's love, know Jesus Christ, grow in His image, so that they may be healed, restored, and given the grace-filled power to become the people God created them to be.

At Bethany, we are Christians who are excited to be part of the United Methodist Church. United Methodists are the second largest Protestant denomination in America. Founded as a reform movement in England in the 1730’s by John and Charles Wesley, the Methodist Church was established in America in 1784. Since then Methodists have played a significant role in shaping our nation, and especially Texas. Southern Methodist University in Dallas and Southwestern University in Georgetown were both founded and supported by Methodists. The Montopolis Friendship Center in Austin, Methodist Children’s Home in Waco, Methodist Mission Home and Hospital System in San Antonio, and hospitals in Houston and Dallas were also begun by the Methodist Church. | |

| Experience God's Love Know Jesus Christ Grow in His Image | |
Together, we are the hands and heart of Christ. |
It is our desire to honor God through all our work on His behalf. To that end, we will do His work with the qualities we most value: integrity, grace, excellence, relevance, authenticity, passion, humility, faith, inclusivity, commitment, community, joy and love. In order to remain focused on Experiencing God's Love, Knowing Jesus Christ, and Growing in His Image, Bethany United Methodist Church shall not: pursue ministry which is contrary to our vision and purpose; depart from the Scriptures and Biblical principles for living; do anything contrary to the spirit and intent of the United Methodist Book of Discipline; fail to be good stewards of the financial and non-financial resources entrusted to us; cease discerning God’s vision for Bethany United Methodist Church.
