Bethany Students Are on a Mission!

Students at Bethany are fired up for God and have the heart to serve by participating in a variety of missions throughout the year. Check out some of the mission and outreach opportunities taking place in 2008 below, and we invite you join us in being the hands and feet of Christ in our world!

Student Mission Trips 2008

Mountain T.O.P. -  A team from Bethany joins with other Christians from across the nation in showing the love of Christ to others by repairing fences, building porches and painting houses to those in need living in the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee.

Conference Sponsored My Mission - VBS in local church, homeless shelter food pantry, soup kitchen, minister in community centers, minor repairs on host church.
PURE SOUND Choir Tour (Middle & High School) - Travel by charter bus Chicago by way of Oklahoma and Mississippi and perform several concerts at churches and mission sites along the way.
Mission by the Sea, 1st UMC Palacios, TX - Middle School youth might work at the thrift store for Senior Citizens or the Caring & Sharing Food Pantry or play games at the Senior Citizen center. Some youth will work cleaning up yards, washing windows or painting.
Vacation Bible School-Brownsville (Senior High/College) Go to Brownsville and provide a week of fun and learning of Christ’s love to the homeless children in the Brownsville area.


Local Missions 2008:

Souper Bowl of Caring - Youth collect funds following on Super Bowl Sunday for to help Hill Country Community Ministries purchase food for those in need.
30-Hour Famine - Senior High youth seek sponsors and then Fast for 30 hours at a retreat here at Bethany. The program is out of World Vision - an international organization whose main purpose is to feed the hungry.
Loose Change to Loosen Chains - Students helping to free modern day slaves. Loose change is collected to help put an end to slavery and oppression.
Hands on Housing - in conjunction with Austin Area Interreligious Ministries, twice a year groups go out into the community and assist those less fortunate with home improvement activities such as painting and yard work.
Texas Baptist Children’s Home - during the holidays, youth collect small gift items for teens who live at the Texas Baptist Children’s Home in Round Rock. The gifts are used throughout the year.
TP for HCCM - Sunday School classes compete for the Golden Plunger by being in the Sunday School class that brings the most Toilet Paper for Hill Country Community Ministries.
