Welcome to SpiritWalk, Bethany's program of short courses designed to deepen Christian discipleship through study and to awaken personal calls to servanthood in the name of Jesus Christ. Classes are described in the SpiritWalk Brochure.
SpiritWalk courses are typically one to thirteen weeks in duration, and are offered in Spring and Fall. The program is comprised of courses that promise to enrich and engage participants on their spiritual journey. Study widens our knowledge of God and helps deepen our faith through understanding. Please consider the courses listed here and give one a try!SpiritWalk Course Offerings Survey
John Wesley found four sources for his faith. They were:
-
Scripture – the Holy Bible (Old and New Testaments)
-
Tradition – the two millennia history of the Christian Church
-
Reason – rational thinking and sensible interpretation
-
Experience – a Christian's personal and communal journey in Christ
This formula still works for Christians today. Whether through Bible study, small group community, historical perspective, or lively discussion, SpiritWalk classes enrich your faith in all of these areas. But, which classes are right for you? We want to know! This survey has two purposes; 1) to stimulate your thoughts on where you are spiritually and 2) to find what classes are most needed at Bethany. Many class topics are listed, but it would be impossible to have an exhaustive list. Use the list to stimulate your curiosity or to generate a suggestion for a class. SpiritWalk classes can be as short as one session or as long as a school year. They can meet weekdays or Sundays, mornings, afternoons, or evenings.
As you look over the survey, allow yourself the freedom to probe something new. Ask some friends what they found interesting, perhaps in another church, or on a website. Pray a little and hear what God would have you do. The survey results will guide what classes we offer in the future. We will start evaluating the results after November 21. After you have found your interests, consider the invitation below.
Facilitating a class is more fun than you can imagine! What? Isn’t it a lot of work? Don’t you have to be an expert? For many classes the answer to both questions is NO! Often the class material, either as reading or as presentation videos, provides the “expertise”. What is needed is to ask discussion questions and guide class activities. Many classes have teacher’s guides to aid facilitators. In addition, later this year we will offer a class (for newer facilitators) on “How lead a class”. The reward for class leaders is twofold; 1) you will learn twice as much about the subject, 2) you will be helping others on their spiritual journey and having a great time doing it. If this sounds interesting, simple check the “lead class” column by classes of interest.
Thank you for taking the survey and do let the Holy Spirit be your tailwind on your journey with God.
